Reputable Chinese site WeiPhone has a new forum post from a renowned user that states that Apple may release a 12-inch MacBook; it’s expected to be slim and without any fan, and feature Retina display and a redesigned trackpad. This trackpad will feature multi-touch gestures as the input method and remove the mechanical button.

The user is the same one who released the 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro before, so this rumor is credible. KGI Security’s Ming-Chi Khuo already said in October 2013 that a 12-inch MacBook pro, combining productivity and portability, will be released this year.

Kuo’s thoughts were as follows:

We expect the unprecedented 12″ model will boast both the portability of the 11″ model, and productivity of the 13″ model. The high resolution display will also offer the outstanding visual experience of the Retina MacBook Pro. The offering will likely be lighter and slimmer than the existing MacBook Air to further highlight ease of portability in the cloud computing era.

The forum post from the user also calls for MacBook Air updates, while a refresh for MacBook Pro to November. Apple released MacBook Air and MacBook Pro last time in June and October, so both lineups are to be upgraded. The non-Retina MacBook Pro may suffer the same faith as iPad 2.
