PayPal UK twitter account was hacked Tuesday and wad used to send false tweets like “U.S. President Barack Obama had been shot dead.” and to promot paypalsucks.com an anti-PayPal site “exposing the nightmare of doing business ‘the PayPal way.’

After PayPal recoverd the account they deleted the false account and tweeted “This account was hacked earlier. We have it in our control now. Your personal data is still 100% safe, hack occurred on Twitter not PayPal”.
Recently a Fox News twitter account was seized in a similar attack and was used to send false tweets about the assassination of U.S. President Obama.
These attacks on twitter accounts of companies and brands isn’t that harmfull as stealing user data like the attack on Sony’s PlayStation Network.
