It was just a few days ago when Apple released the final version of iOS 11.3 to the general public, and now the company is back with the first beta of yet another upcoming software update for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch devices.
Today, Apple has officially released the iOS 11.4beta 1 to the developers. The new software beta is available for all the registered iOS developers and it can be downloaded and installed through Apple developer portal. One can also install it as an OTA update, but for that, you need to have developer beta profile properly configured on your device. As far as the new features of iOS 11.4 are concerned, the first beta of this upcoming firmware update reveals that Apple has added AirPlay 2 support, which means Apple devices can be listed within the Home app again. Other than that, the update is meant to bring stereo speaker support for HomePod, but it is not working yet. For that, HomePod would require a subsequent update. The first developer beta also brings Messages in iCloud support.
The 11.4 software update is also meant to bring bug fixes and performance improvements. At the time of publication, there appears to be an issue that is preventing developers from downloading and installing the beta profile for the pre-release software. Rest assured that Apple will be quick to address the issue.
The Public Beta testers will likely receive the first beta update in a few days. It is still very early to know all the new features that Apple plans on pushing in the final version.
