ios 11 jailbreak

Over the last few weeks, there has been some hustle on the jailbreak scene. Ian Beer recently released a tfp0 exploit that is capable of jailbreaking iOS 11.0-11.1.2 software versions. This exploit seems to be helping jailbreak developers in creating a working iO)S 11.1.2-11.0 jailbreak for all compatible devices. Today, we have another hint that a jailbreak for iOS 11 is in the works. Jay Freeman, aka Saurik, the creator of Cydia, has not come forward to reveal that he is working on updating Cydia for iOS 11.

This week, a Twitter user cheesecakeufo shared a photo (below) showcasing Cydia running on an iPhone X with iOS 11.1.2 software version. He cited Ian Beer’s exploit as the crucial element of what he achieved. However, he believes that there is still some work to be done including fine-tuning and testing to ensure stability. Second, a jailbreak is useless without a working Cydia, and Cydia is not yet updated for iOS 11.

Saurik revealed the upcoming Cydia update for iOS 11 while responding to a hate post against him of Reddit:

“I never made “millions” and I currently lose a lot of money each month on Cydia. I now have a “day job” where I spend a bunch of my earnings to pay for it (which I then have to balance with Cydia work). I am working on the iOS 11 updates even so, because despite people like you always trying to dispell people from thanking me for my efforts, I have managed to maintain my passion for the concept of jailbreaking as I truly believe in the concept.”

I have been watching the jailbreak scene very closely since its early days and I believe that Saurik’s work has been one of the key pillars of the jailbreak community. It is disappointing to see people attacking him for something that he does not even owe them. The jailbreak community should be thankful to the guy who is still working on a Cydia update even though he is losing “thousands of dollars” for maintaining it.

Given the current progress on the different jailbreak-fronts, it seems highly likely that another jailbreaking season for iOS devices is imminent. However, there is no ETA for when an official iOS 11.1.2-11.0 jailbreak might drop. The wait-game is on and as always we’ll keep you up-to-date about any jailbreak related progress.

It is also worth noting that we are fast approaching the 10th-anniversary of Cydia, which has been running on more than 30 million jailbroken iOS devices. If you want to support Saurik for what he is doing for the jailbreak community, you can donate him through his official web page.
