According to Display Mate, the 6.3-inch Infinity Display on the Note 8 has a great color accuracy, brightness, and other aspects. The display analysis company has awarded Samsung’s OLED panel on the Note 8 the best display available in the market to date. Before this Galaxy S8 was crown with the same.

The Note 8 display beats the display on the Galaxy S8 on many fronts. The display on the Galaxy Note 8 is capable of reaching a staggering 1200 nits brightness which is 22% higher than the Galaxy S8. All this means is that the increase in brightness on the Note 8 will greatly improve the readability under the harsh sunlight.

Other than that, Samsung has also improved the viewing angles and the absolute color accuracy of its OLED display panel in the Note 8. The display panel also has a larger native color gamut covering 112 percent of the DCI-P3, notes Display Mate.

The firm also notes that the 6.3-inch display on the Note 8 with 18.5:9 aspect ratio is 15 percent larger than a typical display with 16:9 aspect ratio. A high resolution of 2960 x 1440 also allows higher pixel density of 521 pixels per inch. Dual Ambient light sensors on the back and front of the device help in better management of auto brightness mode and the device also come with Mobile HDR Premium certification.

The strong performance of the OLED panel on Note 8 has secured it the crown of being the “Best performing smartphone display” by DisplayMate. This clearly shows that Samsung is working very hard on improving its OLED displays every six months. It might be due to the fact that Samsung’s Arch rivals such as Apple now want to switch to OLED panels for their smartphones.

Apple is widely expected to launch iPhone 8 with bezel-free OLED panels sourced from the iPhone 8. The review of Display Mate for iPhone 8’s OLED display will be an interesting piece to read.
