Backtracking from his previous claim that Apple’s 10th anniversary iPhone edition may come in a variety of color options to “maintain its boutique image,” the trusted Ming-Chi Kuo of the KGI Securities now says that all three new iPhone models will launch simultaneously in September and will come in only three color options.

According to his latest note to investors, obtained by MacRumors, Apple will begin mass production of the OLED iPhone model by mid-September, as opposed to late-October as reported earlier. Previously, Kuo had speculated that Apple could delay iPhone 8 launch until October or November.

Kuo believes that only two to four million units of iPhone 8 will be available during the third quarter of the year hinting at a shorter supply, at least initially.

Kuo believes that all three new iPhone models: the iPhone 8, iPhone 7s, and the iPhone 7s Plus are going to support fast charging. He speculates that to use this feature, users might need to purchase power adapter and a USB-C Lightning cable. He, however, did not comment on whether or not all 2017 iPhone models will support wireless charging and if the said feature will require a standalone wireless charging accessory.

The OLED version will be in short supply as we forecast shipments in the third quarter of 2017 will be 2-4 million units or less. We do not think the production of the OLED iPhone will pick up substantially before the fourth quarter; and given strong demand, tight supply may persist until the first quarter of 2018 before improving much.
Expecting a boost in iPhone 8 production in the Christmas quarter, the analyst has projected that model to move between 45 and 50 million units before 2017 wraps up.

Kuo expects 35-38 million units in sales for the 4.7-inch iPhone 7 and 18-20 million units for the iPhone 7s Plus models.
