Without a doubt, Samsung had shaken up the smartphone arena by launching its latest Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus and has managed to beat Apple to launch an almost bezel-free handset. The looks, however, are not the only thing that adds up to the success of a smartphone. The overall performance and the battery life are the two other crucial factors behind the success of a device. First things first, let’s talk about the internal hardware of both devices. Samsung has launched its latest flagship with Qualcomm’s latest octa-core Snapdragon 835 chipset. It has a 4GB of RAM module. On the other hand, Apple’s iPhone 7 Plus is powered by Apple’s own A10 chipset with a 3GB of RAM. On a paper, Galaxy S8 clearly seems to have better hardware to offer, but don’t stop here as you’re going to be surprised to see this real life test performed on both devices. Apple’s iPhone 7 Plus is not only quicker in opening regular apps like Instagram, it also performed way better at opening resource hungry games and applications. The things started to become worst for the Galaxy S8 when the tester tried exporting a 4K video on both devices.

It’s worth noting that despite have more RAM, the Galaxy S8 could not perform better than the iPhone 7 Plus in the multitasking comparison as well. All apps had to be reloaded after exporting a 4K video, while the iPhone 7 Plus could easily switch between the apps even after exporting the 4K video. There is one thing that this speed test failed to expose about the Galaxy devices i.e. Samsung flagships tends to slow down after a few months of use, which the iPhone does not suffer from.
