Apple Firmwares:Here’s the direct download links for all of the iPhone IPSW firmware files from version 3.0.0 on up through 4.1.0 for iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, and iPhone 4. Note that we are not hosting the files, they are direct links to Apple’s web servers.

Note 1: When you download the required firmware below, you can shift-click (on PC) or option-click (on Mac) the Restore or Update Buttons in iTunes.
Note 2: Your browser may change the ipsw-file into a zip-file. In that case, just rename it to end in .ipsw and iTunes will accept it.

iPhone IPSW Firmware DownloadsThe firmware files can be quite large (600MB in some cases) so don’t be surprised if it takes a while to download. It’s easiest to just right-click on the file you want and save it directly, some users experience trouble with Safari when directly clicking the download URL.


What are IPSW files anyway?The IPSW acronym is thought to stand for iPhone Software. IPSW files are essentially justpackages to deliver updates to your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch including the Baseband and Firmware

How To Check iPhone Baseband Version?

  • Tap on “Settings”

  • Tap on “General”
  • Select “About”
  • Scroll down and next to “Modem Firmware” will be your baseband version

How To Check iPhone firmware version?

  • Tap on “Settings”

  • Tap on “General”
  • Select “About”
  • Look for “Version” and the numbers next to this will be your firmware

How to use IPSW files?You can use IPSW files on Mac or Windows, both require iTunes.

  • Connect your iPhone or iOS device to your computer
  • Select the device in iTunes
  • On a Mac, hold down the “Option” key and then click on “Update”
  • On a Windows PC, hold down “SHIFT” key and then click on “Update”
  • Select the IPSW file you downloaded and click “Choose”
  • Let the iOS device update as usual
