Yesterday, we shared the news that coolstar has announced the release date for the release of much-anticipated Cydia for iOS 11. The report got all of us very excited to see an upcoming chance to try our favorite jailbreak apps and tweaks on jailbroken iOS 11 devices. Unfortunately, coolstar has not tweeted that Electra jailbreak RC1, which will contain Cydia for iOS 11, will only be released for developers.
Coolstar has come up with the following reason behind the delay in the release of Cydia for iOS 11 for the general public:
Electra RC1 will be a limited release to developers only initially. It will be made available to the public once core 3rd-party packages are updated (E.g. Filza and RocketBootstrap)
As of right now, all packages from saurik’s repo and many 3rd party Cydia packages that depends on daemons are broken on iOS 11. Hence the initial developer-only release while we get electra tools set up and let 3rd parties update.
The Electra jailbreak developer has already reached out to jailbreak developers such as Ryan Petrich, the developer behind popular jailbreak tweaks such as Activator so that the process can be completed at a faster pace.
What I think is that the hacker must hold off on releasing Cydia for iOS 11 until the packages from Saurik’s repo and 3rd party Cydia packages become compatible with iOS 11 jailbreak. Otherwise, a hasty release may end up frustrating a good number of jailbreakers. Releasing a developer version means that the jailbreak developer wants to give time to jailbreak app and tweaks developers to update their packages.
The jailbreak developer has been sharing the overall progress through twitter with screenshots of packages loading in Cydia and also being able to install them. While the hacker has not explicitly mentioned, but the Electra jailbreak with Cydia for iOS 11 may not be available to general public on February 15.
We will update you as soon as the Electra Jailbreak with Cydia for iOS 11 is released. Stay Tuned!
