Apple on Monday seeded iOS 8.4 beta 2, which contains a redesigned Music app experience, to its registered iPhone, iPod touch and iPad developers. The software carries a build number of 12H4086d and can be applied over-the-air through the Software Update update mechanism available in Settings > General, for those who are running the first beta.

Apple had released the first beta version of iOS 8.4 couple of weeks back, on April 13.

iOS 8.4 beta includes a revamped Music app with an all-new MiniPlayer. It is not clear what’s new in the second beta version of iOS 8.4.

Along with the new beta of iOS 8.4, Apple today posted Xcode 6.4 beta 2, build 6E14, which bundles both the iOS 8.4 beta 2 SDK and OS X v10.10 SDK.

As for the comprehensive Music app redesign, it debuted in the first beta of iOS 8.4, which landed into the hands of registered iOS developers on April 13.

The new Music app is much nicer looking than the current stock Music app and it contains a wealth of improvements and new features. From a design standpoint, playlist personalization is now possible through adding your own image and description.

Up Next from desktop iTunes is now part of the new Music experience in iOS 8.4. A quick tap on the Up Next icon in Now Playing produces a list of songs from your library that will play next, allowing you to reorder, add or skip songs to your liking.

iOS 8.4 beta 2 is compatible with the following iOS devices:

  • iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus
  • iPad Air 2, iPad mini 3, iPad 2, iPad (third-generation), iPad (fourth-generation), iPad Air, iPad mini, iPad mini with Retina display
  • iPod touch 5G

Jailbreakers should stay away from this beta. However I’ve added the direct links for developers so they can quickly download it from our website:
