We havent heard any news about the iOS 5.1 untethered jailbreak in a while. Last we have heard is that Pod2g is looking for exploits and seeks users help by sending him crash reports.

Pod2g is back again with another iOS 5.1 jailbreak update. He tweeted that he found all the needed exploits to do the jailbreak and that he is working on bypassing ASLR at bootup. This is some interesting news because with the testing phase currently underway, we might be looking at a close release date.

The ASLR (address space layout randomization) is important. It was added back first in iOS 4.3 by Apple, the new boot checks were made part of iOS in order to add extra security for the operating system, and thus blocking jailbreak attempts.

Pod2g, however, has not updated us with a release date just yet. So we are going to have to wait a little bit more. As for now, users who own A4 devices can tether jailbreak their devices on RedSnow.
