If you were one of those who felt the sting of seeing your iPhone in a bucket full of water, would appreciate the idea of a waterproofed device. Today, at the Mobile World Congress 2012, two companies, HZO and Liquipel, were displaying the water-proofing technologies.

We have been hearing that Apple is exploring various technologies that renders their devices more resilient to water damage. Apple employed a new jack in the iPad 2 that helped protect the tablet`s internal components from moisture.

We heard about HZO after the CES when an HZO rep said that they were talking with Apple about making all their iPhones waterproof. During the CultofMac talk with HZO at the Mobile World congress, they indirectly confirmed that Apple is discussing with them water-proofing their devices.

“We have agreements in place with all of our partners preventing us from talking about upcoming devices,” HzO’s director of marketing and sales Rick Peterson told Cult of Mac when asked if they were working with Apple on waterproofing future iPhones and iPads.

Based on what HZO`s director of marketing and sales to CultofMac, It`s unlikely that w will see a waterproofed iPad 3.

“In general, it takes at least six months or more from signing a deal with a partner to the release of a device using our technology,” Peterson told Cult of Mac. “No one was even talking about this technology six months ago, so it’s going to take a while for the first phones shipping with HzO to reach market. We hope to see some of them announced this week at Mobile World Congress, and some of these will be shipping later in the year.”

Six months prior to execution confirms it`s unlikely iPad 3 will be water-proofed, but it still leaves the door wide open for iPhone 5 rumored to launch fall 2012.

If you are looking to waterproof your iPad, though, you can go for the second option being Liquipel company that can help waterproof your gadgets. Liquipel provides coating for your gadgets for $59.

We keeping our fingers crossed for Apple to reach an agreement with HZO to bring us a mind-blowing iPhone 5.
