Apple`s official announcements history suggests that we will be seeing the new iOS at the upcoming iPad unveil event. A report by YourDailyMac today has pinned an iPad uncovering date and an iOS release on March 9th.
“We today discovered that Apple published eleven new profiles for various iPhone-operators. These files are compatible with iOS 5.1 and are set for release on March 9. This could indicate that iOS 5.1 will be released around the date, and available for the following devices; iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod touch 3G/4G, iPad and iPad 2.â€
Why should we take that report with a grain of salt? Well, it`s not the fruit company`s normal course of action to leave explicit release dates in any contexts. Besides, the company has before delayed software releases just to get things right.
The release date itself, March 9th, falls on a Friday and if the report was true in that the software release will indeed accompany the next iPad unveil, when was the last time Apple made a grand announcement on a Friday?!
To be fair, though, an early March release falls within the range of all the previous iPad 3 rumors. So, we might be seeing an Apple event announcement launching the next gen iPad and the new software sometime in the first or second week of March.
