Before the iOS 5`s notification center, your notifications messages used to pop up right in the middle of your screen while you`re busy working and blocking your view. You had two options at the time; whether to dismiss it and hope you remember to check it later or act on it momentarily which could be very irritating. Apple replaced this bulky middle-of-the-screen notification messages with the new iOS 5 which subtly brings your notifications to the top of the screen with a small notification banner.
However, even this less-space consuming messages notification banners hide the top part of your upper row of apps and there`s no X button on the banner to dismiss it for the time being. Well we have an easy and an easier solution for you.

The easy one is to swipe down the notification banner and release and your banner will disappear instantly. The move isn`t very intuitive, right?

The easier solution, on the other hand, is a jailbreak tweak called NCQuickDismiss which simply adds that missing X button to your notification banner. It allows you to easily dismiss the notification banner as well as the Notification Center shade.NCQuickDismiss doesn`t have any settings and works upon installation.

To install this tweak, you must have an iOS 5 jailbroken device using RedSn0w or SnowBreeze.

The tweak available on Cydia under the BigBoss repo.
