Apple has introduced many new features in iOS 10 along with redesigned UI elements. One feature of iOS 9 that received a facelift in iOS 10 is the Back-to-App button aka ‘breadcrumb links’ in the Status bar.
Breadcrumb links were introduced in iOS 9 as a way to allow users to quickly switch back to the app from which they were redirected. These links occupy a considerable amount of space in the Status bar thereby hiding the signal and WiFi strength icons.
To address this issue, Apple reduced the length of breadcrumb links in iOS 10 by showing only the app’s name along with an arrow icon in the Status bar, as can be seen in the screenshot above. The new design hides only the cellular signal strength but shows the WiFi signal.
Although the final build of iOS 10 hasn’t been released yet, you can enjoy the redesigned breadcrumbs by installing a new Cydia tweak known as Breadcrumb10. As its name implies, the tweak ports the iOS 10 breadcrumb style to iOS 9 and reduces the amount of space that it occupies in your Status bar.
By default, the tweak will get enabled as soon as you install it. It also doesn’t require any additional configuration. When you’re redirected to a different app, you’ll notice the new style of the breadcrumb links in the Status bar.
If you’re not on iOS 10 beta and find the iOS 9-styled breadcrumb links annoying then Breadcrumb10 is a solid tweak for you. The tweak is available as a free package on Cydia’s BigBoss repo and is worth a try. Let us know what you think about the redesigned breadcrumb links.
