When Apple priced the iPhone X at $999 last year, it set a benchmark price for a flagship smartphone. While other Android OEMs have launched flagship smartphones with an even higher price tag, that steep price tag was limited to a special variant of the device with an absurdly high amount of storage and some special branding from a car or a luxury brand.
