The Apple Watch looks to be on track to start arriving on doorsteps on Friday, April 24. We saw the process start rolling on Monday, April 20, with credit and debit cards being charged for the pre-order. Before that, a report began circling that the wearable had begun shipping to distribution centers in the United States. And, finally, on Tuesday, we saw some orders get attached to tracking numbers ahead of the Friday arrival. Now, even some pre-orders with extended ship dates are starting to get finalized faster than expected.
As Apple puts it on their website, the Apple Watch is coming, sooner for some. For many of those that pre-ordered, though, waiting another two days for Apple’s wearable isn’t so bad. Of course, for others, waiting until June might be pretty frustrating.
Initial reviews for the wearable painted a pretty clear picture for the Apple Watch: It’s the best smartwatch to date, but whether or not you actually need a smartwatch is still debatable. Of course, for anyone that’s owned a Pebble for more than a week, the answer to that question is probably yes. For others that may not have tried a smartwatch just yet, and especially those that were waiting for Apple to make their own, hearing that they’re getting the best one so far has to be positive news.
There are indeed a lot of features baked into Apple’s most personal device so far, and many of them are probably good enough to earn the hard earned cash of buyers out there. Or maybe it’s just the physical design of the Watch that has so many people scrambling to get their wrist under it. With shipments just about to kick off, I can’t help but wonder more frequently now just what it is about the Apple Watch that’s earned so much attention from customers. What’s led them to pre-order?
Is there a killer feature of the Watch that swung your vote to buy it?
If I had to pick one for myself, I think it’s the fact that I can take the Watch off while I’m in front of my MacBook (which also receives the majority of my notifications), and the wearable won’t continue to notify me of things I’m already aware of. That means that I won’t get flooded with sounds and repeated notifications, and I think that’s probably one of the best features of Apple’s wearable.
What about you, though? What was it about the Apple Watch that made you realize you wanted one? Which feature called out to you the most? And, in the end, which variant of the wearable did you end up buying?
