With the launch of iPhone X, Apple will reduce the production of iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus by fifty percent, claims a news report originated from China. The news source claims that this reduction in production will be applicable for November and December.

It remains unclear whether this expected reduction is iPhone 8/8Plus production is due to lack of demand and slow sales or due to the fact that iPhone X is going to launch in the coming month. No matter the reason behind this reduction, if true, it is going to be the first time in Apple’s history that they will be reducing production of an iPhone bu such huge margin and that within a few months of its launch.

Previously, Apple used to reveal its launch weekend sales figure of new iPhones. But, the company stopped disclosing these figures from last year. However, the hard to find iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus made it clear that the new iPhones are still in demand. This year, however, is different. We could not see the iconic queues outside Apple retail stores on the launch day and the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are easily available from online and retail stores.

Apple is all set to start accepting pre-orders for iPhone X on October 27 and the cell phone will be unleashed in the wild on November 3. The demand for iPhone X is expected to be huge, but the device is rumored to experience extreme shortage this year due to the manufacturing challenges related to various Face ID components. So there is a possibility of frustrated potential iPhone X buyers settling with an iPhone 8 or and Android phone.
