Samsung does all it can to bash Apple and the recent ad for Galaxy S5 is a reminiscent of the statement. Called ‘Wall Huggers’, it shows iPhone users in every situations with a theme that recurs them to be chained to a socket. The opening voiceover says ‘There they are’.

“Clustered around power outlets, recycling bins and bathrooms, tethered to the wall.”. The ad takes it to the extreme suggesting the battery life of iPhone deprives its users.

“freedom to enjoy even the most basic things” including “grabbing a drink” and “sharing a laugh with your co-workers” and “sitting with someone you know.”

The commercial also praises the Ultra Power Saving Mode, a featured developed by Samsung, as well as the removable battery of Samsung phones.

This is the description on Youtube:

That moment when your phone conveniently chooses the most inconvenient time to run low on juice. Switch your Galaxy S 5 to Ultra Power Saving Mode or swap in a fresh spare battery and say goodbye to the wall huggers for good.

The Commercial will go on air in the US where Samsung trails Apple. Indeed the battery is a concern, which is why iOS 8 will have technology to extend iOS battery life. For example, there will be a feature to detect apps that hog the battery.
